Grounded Companion
for Windows

A small app that lives in your system tray. It installs Grounded Core on this computer, shows you whether it's healthy, and keeps itself and Core up to date. No installer: the download is the app.

After you download

  1. Open grounded-companion.exe. If Windows SmartScreen asks, choose More info, then Run anyway.
  2. Click the Grounded icon in the system tray, next to the clock.
  3. Let Companion install Grounded Core. Your memory lives in %USERPROFILE%\Grounded, and the console opens at 127.0.0.1:7437.

Step by step, with where everything lives: Windows install guide.

macOS & Linux

One script, then one command

The script downloads Grounded Core from GitHub Releases, checks its SHA-256, and puts the grounded command in ~/.local/bin. Then grounded install runs it under Docker or systemd.

terminal
$curl -fsSL https://getgrounded.dev/install.sh | sh
$grounded install
→ console http://127.0.0.1:7437
  • Needs Node.js 26, the version this release was built with. The script checks and tells you if yours doesn't match; it never installs Node itself.
  • Linux x64 has a build today. The script supports macOS, but there is no macOS build yet, so on a Mac it stops and says so.
  • Every release, with its checksums, is on GitHub Releases. Options and backends: install guide.
